cARTrefu Residency 5 Age Cymru January – March: A residency with Llys Gwenffrwd in Holywell Flintshire. This project introduces artists across Wales to elderly people their carers and family. Together we explore creative activities through a twelve week residency.

Ruthin School Denbighshire After School Art Activities 2015 – : Hourly art sessions Tuesday and Thursday afternoons looking at drawing, printing and clay.

Vale of Clwyd Mind in Prestatyn October – December : Delivering as part of the My Generation and Denbighshire Arts Service.

Regional Print Centre Wrexham November : Two day workshop ’ Drawing with the screen’ where we explored the process of screen printing and the possibilities it creates.

During November the cARTrefu artists exhibited at the Courtyard Theatre in Hereford. Where all twelve artists created work in response to their experiences.

Arts and Friendship September : Working with the villages surrounding Denbigh in North Wales, The Carriageworks CIC project brought artists into these communities. In Llandyrnog we went for a walk around the village drawing and collecting ‘ bits and bobs ‘

Blind Veterans UK Llandudno residency with Helfa Gelf August – September : A series of afternoons and days working with the visitors to the centre. Inspired by the picture ‘ Gassed ‘ by John Singer Sargent we created a piece of work that reflected the shapes of the figures in the painting. The final work combined tile work, planks of wood and material.

Denbighshire Arts Service & Denbighshire CC Housing June – August : Out door summer workshops. Events at Pengwern Community day in Llangollen. The Oak Tree Centre in Rhyl for National Play Day. Bruton Park and Rhydwen Drive both in Rhyl, finishing at Prestatyn Youth Centre.

Conwy Arts Service & Archives with Conwy Adoption Support Group July – August : Llandudno Library we met each week and explored different ways of drawing inspired by pieces found in a box marked Kendricks Cave.

Gwanwyn Festival Age Cymru with ConneXions in Trefnant supported by Denbighshire Arts February – May : I worked with the groups volunteers. The group meet monthly with older people from the community and those living in local care homes. I applied to the Gwanwyn ( Spring) Festival grant scheme in December 2018 and we were awarded funding.

cARTrefu Residency 2 with Age Cymru January – March : This second residency at Stansty House in Wrexham a much larger home was a complete contrast to my first residency in the Autumn 2017.

Arts and Friendship March : The Carriageworks in Denbigh. The group meet on a Thursday afternoon each week to enjoy tea and Cake while sharing creative interests.

Hafod y Green Nursing Care Home Trefnant with Denbighshire Arts Service January – July : It was great to visit the home again. Working with the carers and a group of residents who live with different disabilities.

Ruthin Craft Centre Denbighshire Easter : ‘drop in’ sessions through out the day, printed cards using mono print drawings.

Vale of Clwyd Mind, Llangollen / Denbighsire Arts Service January – March : The group meet on a Friday at St Collen’s Community Hall.

The Stroke Association Rhyl and Denbigh with Denbighshire Arts Service February – July : Working with the group using stencils as a guide to inspire drawings.

Criw Celf, Wepre Park in Flintshire January – February : Criw Celf is an opportunity for children with a special interest in art to take part in a series of masterclasses to develop their skills and experience further. We looked at the landscape of Wepre Park and from these observations created stencils which were then used to explore screen printing.

Hafod y Green Nursing Care Home,Trefnant with Denbighshire Arts Service September – December : I worked with a small group of patients and carers each week, We used a combination of stencils and media to produce lines and shapes we later developed into printed collages.

Art And Friendship November – December : Working with people in the community who perhaps are feeling lonely and isolated from opportunities.

Ruthin Craft Centre Denbighshire November : Delivery of a ‘drop in’ workshop inspired by the gallery exhibitions. The participants made their own rubbings from natural and manufactured objects.

Oriel Mostyn Gallery Llandudno Introduction to Screen printing workshop November : A one day workshop introducing participants to the process.

Vale of Clwyd Mind Rhyl with Denbighshire Arts Service September – December : I visited the group one morning a month. We experimented with drawing and created stencils which we used in printmaking introducing the group to screen printing.

cARTrefu Residency 1 with Age Cymru September – December : One of twelve artists that are delivering creative sessions to older people in care homes across Wales. My first residency was with Bronafallen Care Home in Cerrigyrudion. The views over the surrounding landscape inspired our work.

Denbighshire Arts Service with The Oak Tree Centre in Rhyl August : I delivered a printed card making session through out a family fun day event at the centre. Followed by a two day residency working with the Holiday Club children where we explored drawing and printmaking, creating an Oak Tree design which we later printed onto bags.

The Stroke Association, Groups in Rhyl & Denbigh June – July : Working with the two groups delivering a series of art & design session inspired by our surroundings.

Wear Purple Arts / Age UK Cheshire May – August : Working with a group of residents at Elton Community Centre in Cheshire. Creating work in response to the working title ‘ Naturally Manufactured ‘. As part of the project I visited Astbury Lodge Care Home in Ellesmere Port every two weeks and worked with the residents sharing different techniques.

Experimental sessions at Hafod y Green March – July : A residential Nursing Care Home in Trefnant, supported by Denbighshire Arts Service, working with a group of residents who live with different complicated disabilities, we explored printmaking and we will explore this more !

Immersive Spaces February – March : A sensory, interactive creative project assisting artist Ticky Lowe www.makingsensecic.org.uk sessions for young adults with different complex needs & Autism working in response to the exhibitions at the Oriel Mostyn in Llandudno.

Art & Friendship Season 3 January – March : Working with a small group over two sessions we began drawing in 3D using fine wire to create flowers and organic shapes from our imagination.

Vale of Clwyd Mind Denbigh January : Delivering morning art & design sessions exploring screen and block printing, taking drawings and creating stenciling techniques.

Criw Celf with Flintshire County Council and Oriel Wrexham January, February & March : Working with a group of young artists ‘ Experimenting with Printmaking ’ exploring screen printing with paper stencils.

Community Art Projects 2016

Flintshire Visual Art Schools ‘Our world’ November : An opportunity to deliver screen printing into three primary schools. Working with conservation partner Iwan Edwards of the North Wales Wildlife Trust. We met at the beginning of each week discussing the importance of trees with the schools. Focusing on the view from the schools and how important trees are within the landscape. Working with the title the Living Landscape. Trees were made from found and processed pieces of wood that were printed on and each school has an individual tree, depicting the children’s printed view. The trees were all exhibited at Theatr Clwyd in Mold during February 2017 and are now all in position in Ysgol Carmel, Dragon tree, Ysgol Golftyn, Apple tree and Ysgol Westwood Oak tree.

Art and Friendship Season 2 September – December : Art project with Denbighshire County Council and the Carriageworks Gallery. We worked with people in the community who perhaps are feeling lonely and isolated from opportunities. In a relaxed atmosphere we explore different art, craft and design activities.

Lost in Art Conwy and Wrexham October – December : A regional project that began in Denbighshire, I lead and assisted alongside a team of artists to deliver workshops each week investigating different media with a group of participants that are living within the community with Dementia.

Ruthin Craft Centre Artist Stories unfunded residency April – August : An opportunity to develop new work while exploring new processes and investigating different mediums, while also engaging with visitors and delivering a series of ‘pop in’ sessions during the May half term.

Five Ways to Well being June : Vale of Clwyd Mind an event at the Abelet Unit, Glan Clwyd Hospital, Denbighshire. Art activity producing a printed card to take away as a reminder of the process. ‘Connecting Minds’ in May, introducing printmaking inspired by the seaside, activities delivered by Vale of Clwyd Mind this event took place in Corwen Pavilion in Denbighshire.

‘A Different View’ April – June : One of a group of voluntary assistant artists on a collaborative community project with artist Andrew Coomber. This took place in Denbigh Town Hall working with young adults from The HWB in Denbigh and students from the Textile Course at Llandrillo College Denbigh. Co-ordinated by the Carriageworks Gallery and supported by the Denbighshire Arts Service, the team produced an aerial view of the Vale of Clwyd.

Community Art Projects 2015

Lost in Art Llangollen Denbighshire October – December : Delivered weekly art sessions working with people living with Dementia in the community. We worked with a variety of different materials, no previous experience of art was necessary. The project aimed to explore how visual arts can influence the lives of people effected by Dementia. It is supported by Denbighshire County Council and The Alzheimer’s Society.

Connected Communities June : The workshop delivered at Ruthin Craft Centre was inspired by the work of the Dementia and Imagination Study taking place at Bangor University. The project was funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Economic and Social Council as part of the Connecting Communities program. It was a day of discussion for health professionals and all involved in the practice of support for people with Dementia in the local community. We designed sessions that gave an introduction to an inspirational workshop that could be practiced as a model for groups practicing Art and Design with the older generation. Imagination and Dementia (Project 4) Llangollen Denbighshire April-June, I assisted artist Sian Hughes in delivering weekly sessions for people living with Dementia. We worked as part of a study that involves communities across North Wales and other parts of the UK.

‘Making Our Mark’ The Carriageworks Denbigh April – May : With the local Vale of Clwyd Support Stroke Association. The project delivered a series of workshops where the participants experimented with different mediums producing work that was exhibited in the gallery space. The proceeds from the exhibition went towards the Stroke Association.

‘Come and Create’ October – November : A series of art sessions working with Vale of Clwyd Mind based at Trefeirian House in Denbigh, in association with The Carriageworks Gallery in Denbigh.Where the final exhibition and celebration of the work produced was displayed.

Big Draw @ Ruthin Craft Centre October half term, afternoon “drop in” session exploring screen printing.

Vintage Mary Dei August – September : Social Enterprise group in Denbigh. Delivered two ‘drop in’ print sessions at the HWB in Denbigh, working with carers producing designs for a set of Christmas Cards to be sold in aid of the local community of carers.

HWB & NEWCIS with Denbighshire Arts Service January – March : A project that allowed time to work with a group of carers once a week.This involved collaborating with NEWCIS ( North East Wales Carers Information Service ). We experimented with different techniques revolving around drawing, printmaking and collage.

Community Art Projects 2014

Dementia and Imagination Project 1 June – August : UK wide research project that looks at the effects of the visual arts on the quality of life of people with dementia. Artist SIan Hughes lead the project. We met every week in the summer exploring different mediums producing work in reflection to the exhibitions at Rhyl Library and Art Gallery.

Making Insights, Ruthin Craft Centre Ruthin July : One of a group of artists who had the opportunity to design a three day residency and deliver an open studio experience.

Exhibitions, Workshops, Commissions and projects 2013 – 1994

‘Bro’ National Eisteddfod Denbigh April-August : Introducing printmaking to Schools In Denbighshire. The project was also funded by Jones Brothers Civil Engineers in Ruthin. The brief was to produce flags and banners that flew at the Eisteddfod during the week long festival in Denbigh. Another part of the brief had to introduce the children to the work of Edward Pugh an artist born in Ruthin who traveled around North Wales producing work that depicted the people and places of interest. The work was published in his book the Cambria Depicta the work focused on his view of the landscape. The children used the garden and playgrounds as their views. Producing 20 flags 5 for each school using a combination of block printing and screen printing.

The Original Print Project August : Exhibition with a group of printmakers at the National Eisteddfod in Denbigh with the vision of promoting ‘ the original ‘ in print.

‘A Sense of Place’ April – May 2013 : An exhibition celebrating the work of a Community groups based in Rhyl North Wales. The groups worked alongside artists from the Helfa Gelf Art Trail. I worked with the Rhyl Young Carers, (Action for Children) we produced Screen printed banners and hangings. The final exhibition was held at Rhyl Library and Arts Centre during June 2013.

‘Past Present Future’ October-December 2012 : Ten years of the Regional Print Centre in Wrexham, It was a privilege to be part of the Retrospective Exhibition.

‘Under Pressure’ June 2012 : A selected exhibition at Rhyl Library and Arts Centre on the theme of Climate Change.

‘Crossing Borders’ April 2012 : A joint exhibition with Cheshire Arts working with Alison Craig and Lynette Howells More producing work inspired by a walk around Rhuddlan in North Wales .

Feb 2011- Aug 2011 : Commission for three prints based on tree shapes. Looking at the Scotts Pine, Oak and Hawthorn.

Jan 2002-April 2002 : Ceramic wall mural, Part of a joint project with Stepney Green School, East London and Craig Bragdy Design Ltd Denbigh, North Wales to produce a ceramic mural based on the shape of the River Thames each student produced a self portrait on a clay tile that was placed within the river shape.
